Desinforum 2023

What new insights are there about disinformation? How does society deal with this (worrying) challenge? How can researchers, journalists and media literacy actors join forces in the fight against disinformation? Discover this during the Desinforum on Tuesday, June 20th.

This event consists of two parts. Part 1 is organized by Mediawijs in collaboration with EDMO BELUX. Part 2 of the event ‘Fighting Misinformation’ will take place in the same venue and aims to facilitate a discussion on tackling misinformation online. This event is organized by Google Belgium.

Desinforum

Presentation of the key findings of the Digital News Report 2023.

We present the key findings from a comparative survey amongst Belgian and Luxembourgish citizens, seeking to understand people's exposure to, and belief in, disinformation. The survey inquired about people's belief in a wide variety of disinformation, allowing for a more comprehensive understanding of the drivers of people's belief in disinformation. Finally, we discuss who people think is to blame for the spread of disinformation, and how these perceptions vary across different groups in society.

« Generation 2020 – Young and News" is a in school survey that was conducted in the class of pupils aged 12 to 20 to answer the question: « how do young people get information? » Part of the survey focuses on issues of misinformation and critical thinking; this presentation will focus on these issues ».
